I've stumbled into a few hours of alone time this afternoon before work and since I don't really know what to do with myself I've been discovering some new music on Pandora. I just came across a song I already know but the words are really making me think.
"Would you create in me a clean heart oh God.... restore in me the joy of Your salvation.... Wash me white as snow and I will be made whole."
Jon Foreman
What a great song writer. Love it. I guess I'll spend the next hour before work thinking about that one. What would it mean to really live in the reality of that?

The part about having a clean heart is a life prayer I think, dont you? We always have areas where we need to be purified.
ReplyDeleteBut I really think the part about having the joy of our salvation renewed is something we can pray and expect. I heard a pastor challenge us that if we dont have the joy we should be praying and asking God to reveal why. I actually didn't feel joyful when I heard him say that so I did ask God and asked Him to make me joyful. He showed me that when I confess sin and am open with my heart I can accept His forgiveness and have my joy restored/ And I have been amazed - best summer of my life - not cause of me, but cause of HIM! I really believe joy is meant to be the norm with intermittent times of joylessness, rather than the other way around.
